How Do I Know If I Have Ear Wax Build-Up?
Symptoms of ear wax build-up may include:
- difficulty hearing
- a feeling of fullness in the ear
- tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- discomfort in the ear (earache)
Get a Hidden Hearing ear wax removal professional to examine your ears to confirm whether you have ear wax build-up.
When Should You Consider Ear Wax Removal?
Ear wax occurs naturally in the ear canal and is actually good for your ears, helping keep skin healthy and prevent infection. Ear wax also assists in the cleaning and lubrication of your ear canal. Some people may suffer from excessive ear wax, which could lead to problems such as difficulty hearing, a feeling of fullness in the ear, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or discomfort (earache). The expert team at Hidden Hearing can examine your ears to determine if you have excessive ear wax build up and if you should consider an ear wax removal appointment.

Micro-Suction Ear Wax Removal
Ear wax removal with Hidden Hearing is carried out using micro-suction. This method is quick, safe and effective. Unlike irrigation, the benefits of micro-suction are that there is no mess and there is no need to get any water in your ear.
The micro-suction method involves placing a tiny probe inside your ear, cleaning out any excess ear wax and debris like a tiny vacuum cleaner. And unlike irrigation, micro-suction is suitable even if you have a perforated eardrum.
Also, since the probe that is used in the micro-suction technique is connected to a video otoscope, the practitioner can watch the ear wax removal in real-time but also record the removal process in case any further investigation is needed.
How Much Does Ear Wax Removal Cost?
Micro-suction ear wax removal prices start from £50, for both ears. This includes the following:
- Photos and video images of both ears pre- and post-treatment can be sent to your GP, on request.
- If anything unusual is found in your ears, your Hidden Hearing practitioner has direct access to an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) advice panel – within 72 hours of your appointment – at no extra cost to you.
- Your practitioner will give you a short hearing screening after removing your ear wax, to check how well you can hear.

It is recommended to use Earol® for 3 to 5 days before your appointment. This olive oil based spray will help soften the wax, making it easier to remove.
To cancel your appointment, please give at least two clear working days’ notice, otherwise your appointment will be non-refundable.
